What do you get when you cross..................................

A blank wall with one too many snow days?
 Something bright? Something fun?
I can't stand another moment of this dull, dreary winter. I love being home but I need something cheery to perk me up! Let's see what I can find in my stash.
I bought two panels from Loralie Designs a year or so ago, just because I liked them. I had no idea what to do with them, I just wanted them. I decided to go with Chefs because the eventual quilt was going to hang next to my kitchen.
I poured over books and images trying to find just the right pattern. Nothing seemed quite right.
Oh boy, this was getting a little intimidating.
I'm using a panel and now I need to come up with my own pattern??????
I started with my favorite image on the panel. This will be the center and I will work my way out. One of these characters reminds me of me, love to cook and all attitude!
Nine blocks later, I'm so excited with this that I stayed up most of the night playing. Sashing, no sashing, dark, light? Maybe if I put it up on my design wall?
Ta Da! By the time the roads cleared and I had to go back to work on Tuesday, I had a new wall hanging that makes me giggle every time I look at it.

A Timely House Warming Gift

.
I'm so happy for my sister, Marianne!
She and her husband just bought their first house.
There are four sisters in my family. We are all different and still, in a lot of ways, very much the same.
Marianne, is truly a traditionalist in her color preferences and her decorating sense. A Christmas tree skirt should make a great house warming gift for her.
This Kansas Troubles, Holiday Medley has been in my stash for a while waiting for just the right home. I think I found it. The tree skirt is 49"x 49" and I used a pattern by Sweet Jane named Oh Christmas Tree. I did the straight line quilting myself. The binding was my first try at a machine binding. It looks great but I still think I like the relaxation that I get by hand sewing better.

The project came together pretty quickly. It could  easily be done in a weekend, especially if you use pre-cuts.

Hmmm, what next?

Class Project-Braid Table Runner

This was a Quilt As You Go class project at my local quilt shop, Beary Patches Quilts.
The georgous fabric was the perfect color way for my Mom on Mother's Day this year. I'll definately do it again in different colors.
